About Us
Ogazi
Peace
Foundation was started by a group of women who arrived in
the U.S.
over
twenty years ago.
Now, years later and citizens and professionals
themselves, they are helping other immigrant families new to
the U.S. They
remember what it was like to be in a completely new place,
unfamiliar with
the system,
not knowing the next door neighbor or
the American
system.
They
remember that a lot of immigrants are well-intentioned and
professionals too who need just a little support and
guidance.
Ogazi
Peace
Foundation provides
social service and legal aid support to
needy immigrant
families,
especially
mothers with food, clothing, fellowship, networking,
career
counseling, and
legal aid
– regardless of their
national origin.
The experience of these founders during their recent visits
to some African villages prompted them to get involved in
education of local children who are extraordinarily talented
but whose parents cannot afford the tuition.
A lot of the elementary school children
do not have shoes, uniforms or school supplies. Many of them
had never had any immunization. Most of the academically
intelligent elementary school graduates could not go to high
school because their parents could not afford the
tuition.
Basic health care screenings are still lacking. A lot of
people do not have basic information about
diabetes,
hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, and eye care. It is very pathetic and
disheartening to see people suffer so much for things we
take for granted in the United States.
The Foundation’s Board of Directors
includes
attorneys, financial
advisors, medical professionals
and community leaders.
There are volunteers and employees, most of who are
multilingual, professional counselors, social workers,
and
attorneys. Together the organization’s directors, volunteers
and employees possess more than a century of experience in
promoting and
supporting the welfare of the less privileged.
